Library Mission & History

The mission and history of Bloomfield Public Library

The mission of Bloomfield Public Library is to provide materials and service for community residents of all ages for personal enrichment, enjoyment and educational needs. The Bloomfield Public Library and the Library Trustee Board are committed to supporting a lifelong enjoyment of reading and learning.

The library system holds approximately 15,000 materials, including books, and movies . We also have 12 computers available for public use. Patrons do not have to be a member of the library to have free use of the computers. A small fee will be charged for pages printed.

The Bloomfield Public Library was created in the 1910s by local citizens seeing the need for a free community library. The library has been located in four different locations and has been at the current location for several years.
